This is my final project.
Cinco de Mayo is a date of great importance for the Mexican culture. Cinco de Mayo is not only celebrated in Mexico, but has also become a traditional holiday in the United States of America. The holiday of Cinco de Mayo, the 5th of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The holiday of Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Mexico and the United States of America. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16th. The Battle of Puebla occurred during the French intervention in Mexico. A stunning victory for the Mexicans: 83 killed, 131 wounded, and 12 missing. The Mexicans won their famous victory on May 5, 1862. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with huge fairs that include Mexican singing, dancing, feasting, sport activities and fireworks. Cinco de Mayo is a day to enjoy traditional Mexican recipies and the best loved Mexican foods.

The hardest question to answer, is who am I. I grew up in Staten Island, New York which is a suburban area. Throughout the years, the definition of suburban has changed. Years ago suburban was farmland, no buildings and very little traffic or noise, but today we have houses every which way you can look and tons of buildings. The amount of farmland left is slim to none. I am a middle class, fifteen year old female with a ten year old sister, Alexis, and two amazing parents. My family is of the Italian and Puerto Rican descent. I have a large family, as both of my parents are one of four. We are all very close. My family has many traditions, such as vacations and Holidays! I love to dance! I have been dancing since I was four years old with many different dance companies on Staten Island. I have done tap, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop. Music is my life! Music helps me in many different ways. When I am in a bad mood, the music I listen to can help to show my feelings, as well as help change them. I like to listen to a variety of different types of music. Ever since I was a young child, I have always wanted to grow up to be a teacher. My mother is a teacher and I have always enjoyed going to her classroom to interact with the students and play the role of teacher. My dream remains the same to this day.

Dreams & Future Plans - When I grow up, I want to be an elementary school teacher. My mom as well as many of my aunts are teachers. I used to go up to school with my mom and help her teach. I always had the greatest time in the classroom and ever since I was little it has been my dream when I wasn't dreaming about working at a gas station. To this day I still go work with my mom and I still have the same feeling every time.
